About Us

Devonport Peninsula Precincts Society is an organised and realistic group of over 400 mainly local people that is fully committed to ensuring the best outcomes for the five remaining Devonport peninsula ‘precincts’ identified by Auckland Council for intensive development.

The group was formed in 2016 to coordinate the broad community concern around Ryman Healthcare’s plans for a large retirement facility off Ngataringa Road – the first of the peninsula’s six ‘precincts’ to be developed.

In early 2017 the group appealed the  Auckland Council’s resource consent approval of Ryman’s plans to the Environment Court. In the ensuing court-led mediation, the group settled with Ryman who agreed to changes that satisfied the appeal.
